When I was serving my mission in the Dominican Republic, I got to know an 11 y/o named Luis (pictured on the right). Like so many kids in the DR, he had a deep love for baseball, but not the means to afford the proper gear. When I met him, I noticed he was playing with a cardboard box as a glove. Inning after inning, day after day, Luis would play with this cardboard glove, a symbol of the dedication he has for the game of baseball, but also the barriers he faces when it comes to having the necessary equipment to chase his dream.
